An Absolutely Defining Sense of Self.

In Washington, you can get coffee anywhere.

Of course, there's your basic coffee at home...

Awesome coffee shops downtown...

The occasional $2 latte...

Starbucks in grocery stores...

and lots of coffee shops in the airport.

Most coffee shops also carry an insane amount of sugar free syrup flavors (thank you, Washington.)...

There are also, of course, a million drive thru espresso stands...

But not only can you get coffee anywhere, you can truly get coffee with anything....
  • with Beer...

  • with Teriyaki and Sushi...

  • with your groceries...

  • with the news...

  • with....Wine, Gifts and Home Decor...

  • with a carwash...

  • with Athletic Awards(what? Is the espresso one of the awards?)...

  • with cigarettes and bagels...

  • with your oil change (please notice, they are not just advertising a special that includes a latte, the place is actually called "Spokane Quick Lube & Latte")...

And, just in case you can't be bothered going into the actual coffee shop attached to the grocery store, you can always just go to the walk up window (I can't help but mention that there is also a Tully's coffee shop in this same store)...

"The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee, but an absolutely defining sense of self.
Tall! Decaf! Cappuccino!"

Fantastic Post!! I love seeing your visual journey of Seattle through its coffee addicted streets! Now, I'm craving that triple grande, skinny, extra caramel, extra hot, caramel macchiato! ;-)

I agree. Absolutely brilliant post. I had coffee yesterday with Maggie. So great to have her here. I can't wait for you to hopefully come and see both of us.

I love you. My life is sorely lacking some Jenny Childers.

I've gotta go get a tall, decaf, cappichino.

Love you & Lattes!

I don't even drink coffee and I love this post! (I must make an observation that some of the places in the photographs are quite near my home.)
